TMDE / Calibration Check — what QA looks for

Test equipment in use: calibration currency, labels, condition, storage. (test measurement & diagnostic equipment · PMEL · cal stickers)

What QA looks for
QA should check the following during TMDE and test equipment calibration inspections:

1. Calibration schedules and master ID lists — Review quarterly TMDE schedules and annual master identification lists within 5 duty days of receipt from the servicing PMEL to verify timeliness and accuracy [DAFI 21-101 para 8.4.3].

2. Required accessories and batteries — Confirm that all accessories and items required for calibration, including batteries as applicable, accompany the TMDE [DAFI 21-101 para 8.4.9].

3. Shipment documentation and traceability — Verify that TMDE shipped off-base is shipped by traceable means IAW DAFI 24-602V2, and that the TMDE Monitor maintains a file of all supporting documentation for each shipment [DAFI 21-101 para 8.4.8 and 8.4.8.1].

4. IUID mark protection — Ensure IUID marks are safeguarded during calibration activities; verify that if a UII is damaged, the TMDE Monitor has notified the Equipment Custodian and EAE to replace it with the same UII [DAFI 21-101 para 8.4.8.2].

5. Technician qualifications — Confirm that technicians certifying TMDE are qualified, trained, and proficient to do so [DAFMAN 21-113 para 2.16.5].

6. Calibration compliance — Verify TMDE is calibrated IAW published calibration schedules and TO 33K-1-100-1 [SPOCI 21-108 para 3.10.2].
