# UFC 3-230-01: Water Storage and Distribution

Status: Cancelled as of 1 September 2018, with Change 3 issued 1 July 2021 [UFC 3-230-01].

Current Applicability: Although the UFC itself is marked cancelled, UFC 3-230-01 remains the controlling standard for water storage and distribution system design across DoD. Air Force and DoD personnel must design drinking water systems in accordance with UFC 3-230-01 [DAFMAN 32-1067 para 4.2.1], and DoD public water systems must implement and comply with its design, operation, and maintenance guidelines [DoDM 4715.05 section 4.2.b.(1)(a)].

Key Coordination Requirements: When designing water systems involving airfield siting, coordinate with UFC 3-260-01 (Airfield and Heliport Planning and Design) and UFC 3-535-01 for obstruction lighting [UFC 3-230-01 paras 4-3.2.1–4-3.2.2].

Related Standards: UFC 3-230-01 works in conjunction with UFC 3-230-03 (Water Treatment), UFC 3-420-01 (Plumbing Systems), and security
